At A.S.Z.V. SPONS you have the possibility to become a member of (multiple) committees. By joining a committee you will meet new people, become an active SPONS member and you will keep the warm heart of SPONS beating. There is a committee for everyone! As a member of a committee you also have exclusive access to the active members day, where you also get a gift for your efforts. Within the committees themselves, there is also time for plenty of wine and beer! Committee work is completely voluntary, but looks good on your resume, offers you practical experience and helps you expand your network. Below is an overview of all committees.

Activities committee
This committee is in charge of the seasonal activities and SPONS weekend which is in the beginning of each season. Old and new SPONS members can get to know each other better here. It is a weekend full of activities, beer, craziness and fun!
Party committee
Every year around the anniversary of A.S.Z.V. SPONS the gala and gala dinner is held (January 22). The location, theme, promotion and arranging a DJ are all taken care of by the party committee. This committee also organizes the amazing season final party!

Merchandise committee
The merchandise committee ensures that SPONS shines as a unit in and out of the pool. Creating your own products is also possible! Besides creating new products, as a member of the merchandise committee you will organize fitting moments for SPONS members and make sure that SPONS members get their products by ordering them online through our suppliers.
OnderSPONS committee
Are you a real paparazzi and always on top of all the juicy facts? Then join the OnderSPONS committee! The committee members of the OnderSPONS committee produce a wonderful magazine called Het OnderSPONSje four times a year. No weird quote, bizarre photo or embarrassing kissing session on the dance floor is missed by our gossip divas.
Batavierenrace committee
SPONS is always present at the annual Batavierenrace, the biggest relay race in the world! In which student associations from all over the Netherlands run against each other, but cosy camping, partying is also part of it! The committee arranges registration, transport to the event and makes sure the weekend runs smoothly for SPONS members. You also arrange the training sessions.
Almanak committee
Is there a hidden writing talent in you and do you enjoy cramming five years of SPONS into one book? Then we desperately need you for the almanac committee! A book full of funny facts, crazy stories, unforgettable gaffes and, above all, an almanac made by and for SPONS members. We are still looking for committee members, so please send a message to the board if you are interested!
Website committee
‘Invisible,’ yet visible. This committee runs everything behind the scenes so that all information about SPONS can be found in one touch! Water and ICT, a terrible combination. Still, we have a few water rats who dare to take on this committee.
Drinks & Dinner Committee
After Thursday practice, all SPONSjes meet at our regular pub café Bobbi’s where we have a drink together. The Drinks & Buffet committee organises special theme drinks a few times a year. Furthermore, the committee is responsible for the wonderful Christmas dinner and the Mix & Match dinner of SPONS!
Promotion Committee
The promotion committee is mainly occupied with SPONS’ social media. In addition, this committee focuses on the promotion of SPONS during the introductory period of a new academic year, where SPONS is present at various intro fairs and intro days among other things to attract new members.
Travel Committee
Every year SPONS goes on a trip abroad to explore the world. As a member of the travel committee, you will be responsible for organizing this amazing trip! The committee is also responsible for organizing a fantastic sailing weekend as introduction to a new season. So if you like travelling, the travel committee is for you!
SPONSor committee
Unfortunately, an association cannot function without income, which is why it is important that SPONS’ treasury are always well-stocked. As a member of the SPONSor committee, you are free to search for enthusiastic partners willing to sponsor our wonderful association, in any shape or form!
NSZK Committee
Organising your own NSZK weekend, with pre-dinner drinks, big match, food ánd a big theme party to conclude the weekend? You can with the NSZK committee! In the spring of 2025, it will be SPONS’ turn to organise an NSZK again, so at the start of the 2024-2025 season, this committee will be restarted!
Freestyle Course Committee
SPONS organises freestyle courses for beginners and experienced swimmers six times a year. Members of this committee take care of applications and promotion for this course, while the trainers take care of the rest. So this committee is very easy to run from home and is SPONS’ biggest money machine!
Dryland Practice Committee
If you love strength training, like to work yourself into a sweat and enjoy motivating your fellow SPONSjes, join the dryland practice committee! The dryland practice sessions take place every Monday from 18:30-19:00 on the side of the pool in the Marnix. Dryland practice sessions are written, but as a trainer you are always free to add your own exercises.
Trainers Committee
To become a trainer, you do not need to have prior coaching experience. You will learn with time and be given a short course. You can give one, or several practices per week. The training sessions are already written by the board of the trainers committee, so you don’t have to write them yourself, but some of your own interpretation is always possible! Besides, our trainers all love Sambuca very much. SPONS champion!
