Do you have to be a good swimmer to become a member of SPONS?
No, you don’t have to. Anyone can become a member of SPONS. However, we do recommend taking SPONS’ freestyle course first if you have not yet mastered the freestyle (that well).
Can you swim competitions at SPONS?
It is possible to swim competitions at SPONS. For example, we participate in the NSZK (Dutch Student Swimming Competition), in which we swim four races a year. All student swimming associations from all over the country (more than 10!) then get together to race against each other. Anyone can take part in these competitions, from beginners to advanced swimmers. After these races, there is always a big party as well. We also organise club championships. These are intended for all members, but especially for new members to get acquainted with competition aspects. You can also swim more competitions using a KNZB number under the name of SPONS. If you want to do this if you are a member of SPONS, please contact the swimming commissioner.
What does a membership cost?
A membership with SPONS for a full year (1 September to 31 August) costs €51. A six-month membership (January to 31 August) costs €34.60. Upon handing in your certificate of registration with your University or University of applied sciences, you will receive €10 back.
Are the drinks or training sessions mandatory?
Both training sessions and drinks are not mandatory. Swim training sessions are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Land training on Mondays at 18:30 on the side of the pool inside Het Marnix. Drinks are every Thursday evening after swim training at our regular bar café Bobbi’s.
How can I unsubscribe from A.S.Z.V. SPONS?
You can unsubscribe by sending an email to bestuur@aszvspons.nl
For members: after a deregistration moment, a notice period of 1 month follows during which your membership continues. During the cancellation period, it is not possible to participate in competitions organised by the KNZB. This includes the NSZKs. If you still want to participate in these competitions during the notice period, please mention this in the e-mail.
By what date should I have unsubscribed?
The deadline to unsubscribe from A.S.Z.V. SPONS is before August 1. Terminate your membership before this date! Otherwise, you will have to pay for the next season.
Does SPONS organise activities?
All SPONS activities can be found in our calendar. About two activities per month are organised, in addition to the regular get-togethers and parties.
